The modern capital Muscat, the breathtaking Hadjar Mountains, the endless Wahiba Desert and the Arabian Sea – all this is Oman. A country as diverse as no other. For 14 days you will discover Oman on this tour and immerse yourself in the culture of the country.
In Muscat, you can experience Omani culture first-hand, be it during a visit to the mosque or at the traditional souk. To escape the hustle and bustle of the city, we continue into the untouched Hadjar Mountains. The breathtaking mountains of Oman are suitable for relaxing as well as for real adventures. We offer you a unique experience with an exclusive overnight stay in one of our luxury tents in the Wahiba Desert, far away from any civilization. To round off this impressive journey, it will take you to Salalah, to the south of Oman. There you can use the last days to swim, relax and reflect on past experiences.
This trip can be done „on your own“ with a rental car, as well as with a personal driver or guide. As Oman experts, we are pleased to plan this trip with you and to design it individually according to your wishes.
Day 1 | Arrival in Muscat
Upon arrival at the Muscat airport, our Primeclass Lounge colleagues will meet you. They will take care of your immigration entry procedures while you recover from your flight. Your personal driver will then drive you to the Kempinski Hotel, where you will spend the next two nights. The recently opened 5-star hotel is located in the modern district of Al Mouj, directly on the beach and its mixture of Omani tradition and European elegance will enchant you.

Day 2 | Discover Muscat
Today, together with your private Omani tour guide you will explore the capital Muscat. In addition to the Grand Mosque, the Opera House and the Fish Market, you will also visit a traditional Souk and the Historic City Center, along with the new National Museum, where you can admire art and cultural treasures from the past. This will give you a glimpse into the Omani culture and way of life.
You will close your evening with dhow (boat) trip. At sunset, you can enjoy the beautiful view with a drink.

Day 3 | Off-Road Adventure through the Hadjar Mountains
After breakfast, your round trip begins. The first stop is in Barka, a small coastal town famous for its lively fish market, Halwa dumplings and bullfights. Shortly after, you will reach Nakhl („palm trees” in English) – a picturesque city on the edge of the western Hadjar Mountains. Here you will visit the 350-year-old castle next to the hot springs, before you begin to traverse the mountains.
Enjoy the adventurous off-road ride through Wadi Bani Awf, one of the country’s most stunning wadis. The path takes you on a 2,000 meter journey, past lush green date palms, deep canyons and breathtaking views. Amidst the rugged mountains, discover Bilad Sayt, one of the small secluded villages that has maintained its traditional charm.
In the afternoon you will arrive at the „green mountain“ of Oman and the fantastic Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Hotel, situated at an altitude of over 2,000 meters above sea level. From here you can make wonderful day trips into the spectacularly scenic surroundings. The spa area and the pool overlooking the rocky landscape are also well worth a visit.
The seclusion, luxurious detail and a feeling of absolute relaxation and serenity, make this hotel one of the most gorgeous places to stay in the sultanate.

Day 4 | The Green Mountain
Today will be the prime day for an adventure through the surrounding mountain region. The Jabal Akhdar region („green mountain“ in English) is one of the most fertile in the country and looks especially lush and green in the winter months. Here on the remarkable terraced fields you will find pomegranates, apricots, almonds, walnuts, grapes growing, as well roses, from which the famous Jabal Akhdar rose water is distilled.
In the afternoon we recommend a detour to the former capital, Nizwa. Begin by exploring the traditional souks known for their silverware and pottery. Then climb the fort’s tower, where you will have a wonderful view of the city and the neighboring mountains.
After, you will ascend back up the mountain to ensure you catch the stunning sunset from the hotel!

Day 5 | Oman’s Mountain World
The mountain region provides ideal conditions for
hiking, mountain biking or enjoying a relaxing day with breathtaking views. Be
sure to try the excellent spa area and infinity pool on the hotel’s terrace.
Likewise, further sightseeing adventures in the region are possible for the day.

6. Tag | From the Mountains to the Desert
Before you start this day in the desert, you can visit some of the charming villages along the way. It is worthwhile on the way, to stop in the mountain village of Birkat Al Mauz (located at the foot of the Jebel Akhdar). Explore the city center, where you can admire date plantations and ancient mud brick houses, and one of the four UNESCO-listed World Heritage Sites in Oman, the famous Falaj water channels.
Just before you enter the desert, you can make a stop in Mudayrib. An especially alluring site that is worth seeing is the lively market square with its historic houses. Here you will find that there are beautifully crafted wooden doors – some of which are from Zanzibar. The village offers a special glimpse into authentic local life.
Allow yourself to be amazed by a ride through the breathtaking dunes of the Wahiba Desert. The changing color of the sand throughout the day is a particularly magnificent sight. In the morning it appears white and then ocher in the afternoon. As the afternoon turns to evening the sand becomes a stunning shade close to red. At the end of the afternoon’s journey through the dunes, you reach the spot where camels are waiting for you. These camels will transport you to your evening’s accommodation during an impressive sunset ride. A Canvas Club Private Camp will be constructed in the desert exclusively for you, approximately 40 kilometers from the main trail. Enjoy this scene of absolute serenity far away from civilization in a beautiful natural atmosphere!

Day 7 | The Wadi Bani Khalid
Experience a peaceful morning in the desert. Today’s planned excursion takes you to the Wadi Bani Khalid – one of the most alluring and famous wadis in the country. Throughout the year, the riverbed carries water to its large turquoise pools. You will have time to refresh yourself in the inviting pristine pools and go for small hikes in the area as well.
On the way back to the camp, you can stop in a local authentic Bedouin family’s home for traditional coffee and dates.

Day 8 | The Wadi Bani Khalid
After breakfast, you depart the desert and continue toward the coast, first reaching the port city of Sur. Here you will visit a dhow shipyard after a short city tour. Afterwards, you drive back on the panoramic road by the sea towards Muscat. Along the eastern Hadjar Mountains you will reach the famous wadis of Tiwi and Shab, two of the most beautiful wadis in the country. Fins Beach is an enjoyable local stop. The white sand and blue-green water calls visitors to linger and additionally offers superb photo opportunities. After the wadis, you will make a short stop at the Bimmah Senkloch, a limestone crater that is fed by underground seawater. In the early evening you arrive in Muscat at the airport. From there, your flight will continue to Salalah (in the south of the country) OR to Dubai / Musandam (United Arab Emirates).

Day 9 – 14 | Bathing in Salalah
Salalah is located on the Arabian Sea about 1000 kilometers south of Oman’s capital of Muscat. It is the largest city in the south of the country and the capital of the Dhofar region. Fertile banana plantations, scenic beaches and green mountains during monsoon are just a few of the famous sites of the Salalah.
Your next days in Salalah will be spent in one of the highest quality hotels in Oman. Opened only last year and located on one of the most picturesque sandy beaches in the country, the Al Baleed Resort leaves nothing to be desired. The villa – style design guards every guests’ privacy. At the resort, you can relax by the infinity pool or along the many miles of beach front. Additionally, it is also an ideal base for day trips to explore Salalah and the surrounding area.

Day 9 – 14 | Bathing in Musandam
The Omani exclave Musandam is about 500 kilometers north of Muscat. The region is located
on the Arab side of the Strait of Hormuz and just two hours from Dubai. The
jagged mountainous fjord landscape is the reason for Musandam’s nickname „the
Norway of Arabia“.
