Muscat - the Capital of the Sultanate
The perfect hotel for starting your Oman holiday is The Chedi Muscat. With its boutique style and very elegant, arabesque elements, it is without doubt one of the most stunning hotels in the Orient. The outstanding gastronomy, the multiple award-winning spa area and the longest infinity pool in the Middle East ensure that everyday stress is quickly forgotten. In the evening, take a stroll along the waterfront promenade and enjoy the illuminated mountain scenery.
Crossing the Western Hadjar Mountains
Following breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide and start your journey. The first stop is in Barka, a small town known for its lively fish market, the famous sweet Halwa and its bullfights. Shortly afterwards you will reach Nakhl, where you can visit the 350 year old fort and the hot springs, before continuing your journey through the mountains. The Wadi Bani Awf lies in a deep rocky gorge. The lush green date palms form a wonderful contrast to the rugged mountains surrounding the wadi. The step-like arrangement of the houses along the foot of the mountain is a typical example of the architecture of a medieval Omani settlement. There you can explore Bilad Sayt, one of the small villages that has retained its traditional charm and sense of rural solitude over the centuries. After crossing this unique wadi, you will reach your hotel for tonight on the other side of the mountains. Do not miss the sunset from your private balcony!
The Oasis Region of Nizwa
Besides the former capital Nizwa, which is known for its traditional markets and the old knight's fort, the whole region offers an incredible variety of impressions with old palaces, clay villages, and green mountain oases. The scenery is crowned by the "sun mountain" Jebel Shams, towering above the region, and the Jebel Akhdar, meaning "green mountain" because of its distinctive flora and fauna.
Glamping in the Wahiba Desert
Today, you and your private guide will explore the Wadi Bani Khaled, Oman's most famous oasis, which invites you to discover cave systems and a relaxing day of swimming.
Sur, Oases & Back to Muscat
The drive back to the capital follows along Oman's golden coast and through the dreamy fishing village of Sur, where the traditional Omani dhow boats are still built today.
